You are loved
At the height of your glory
And the depth of your despair
In the genesis of January
And the revelation of December
In the frigid winds of the winter
And the sweltering heat of the summer
Love remains
Constant in the compliments
And the criticisms
Of victory and defeat
You are loved
In the shadows of isolation
And the spotlight of the stage
In the hushed whispers
And the pointed fingers
In the ex-communication
And the communication with your ex
You are loved with a violent grace
Held by the inexplicable Spirit of God
In a seal of redemptive blood
Through a cross of screaming forgiveness
Across the street and around the world
In the eyes of neighbors and unmet strangers
You are loved, by a Power greater
Unpurchased and unearned
Love is the one constant
Through the surplus and the famine
For richer, for poorer
In sickness and in health
You are loved at birth, inhaling grace
You are loved at death, exhaling gratitude
There is nothing you can do about it.
Wealth and religion are irrelevant distractions
There is nowhere you can run from it.
As far as the east is from the west.
You can’t earn this love.
You can’t lose this love.
You are eternally secure, infinitely sealed
Cosmically held, and mysteriously adored
By a Heavenly Father who is waiting on tip toes
With binoculars at the end of the driveway
